Tuberculosis Tuberculosis (TB) is a very dangerous and serious disease, which is caused by a bacteria called Myobacterium tuberculosis. In this, the lungs are affected the most. Kidneys, spinal cord and brain can also be badly affected by this disease. Lakhs of people die every year due to this disease. Most of the TB patients in the world are found in India only. This has been revealed in a report of the World Health Organization (WHO). It has been told that even today 26% of the world’s TB patients live in the country.
Where are most TB patients found?
According to WHO report, TB remains a very serious disease not only in India but in countries like Indonesia, China, Philippines and Pakistan. It is a matter of concern that there are a total of 56 TB patients in these countries. The most serious condition among these is that of India, which has set a target of eliminating TB by 2025.
The biggest reasons for increasing TB
1. Malnutrition
2. HIV infection
3. Drinking alcohol
4. Smoking
5. Diabetes
TB is more dangerous than Corona
According to WHO report, TB has become a more dangerous disease than Covid-19. In the year 2023, TB will overtake Covid-19 to become the most prominent infectious disease. Last year, about 82 lakh TB patients were found in the world, which is the highest since the World Health Organization began monitoring in 1995, which is raising concerns. If it is not controlled in time, it can become dangerous and fatal.
What problems do TB patients face?
TB patients suffer from cough with mucus and blood. They have problems like chest pain, weakness, weight loss, fever etc. Its infection spreads in the air through cough and sneeze. Lung infection occurs in this, but in many other types of TB, other parts of the body can also be affected. If it is not treated at the right time, it can also be fatal.
Reason for not ending TB in India
According to many reports, TB treatment is improving in the country but multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) remains a serious problem. Last year in 2023, only 44% of the 4 lakh people were diagnosed with TB, all of them have been treated. This shows that many concrete steps and new research are needed regarding awareness and treatment in India, so that it can be completely avoided.
