Udaipur. Holi of Rajasthan is also famous. Like the colors of Holi, the tradition of every district is also different. Even today, Holi is played with gunpowder and bombs in a village in Mewar. Its history is related to the Mughal period.
Many special events are organized on Holi in Mewar. One of these is Holi of Mennar village. Here Holi is not played with colors but with bombs and gunpowder. Here men dress up in traditional costumes and participate in this special event. A large number of tourists come here to watch Holi. The noise of bombs and firecrackers is heard here throughout the night and on the day of Holi, an atmosphere of Diwali is seen.
Strange tradition-wonderful color
A cultural festival takes place with the heroic songs of the women of the society along with the beats of swords, guns and other battlefields, drums etc. Men and women of Menaria caste participate in it dressed up in traditional costumes. In the dance, five groups of men dressed in Kasumal Paag, white dhoti-kurta, complete the ritual of Kasuban on the red carpet spread at Aunkareshwar intersection under the leadership of torchbearers from all the five routes of the village. After that dancing and singing starts.

Historian Dr. Girish Mathur said that this ritual of Holi is the result of Mewar-Mughal conflict. During the time of Maharana Udai Singh, there was a Mughal post near Menar village. From there the Mughal army conspired to attack Mewar. The people of Menaria Brahmin community of the village came to know about this. All of them unanimously attacked the Mughal outpost like brave warriors, in which some people of Menaria community were martyred. But they were successful in driving out the Mughals. Since then, on the second day of Holi in Menar village, on the occasion of Jamra Beej, people celebrate their victory over the Mughal army by playing Holi with gunpowder. For this bravery of Menaria community, the Maharana of Mewar had given him a special title.
