Hezbollah Chief Sheikh Naim Qassem Speech: Sheikh Naim Qasim, the new head of Hezbollah, made it clear in his first address the day after his appointment that the organization will continue the struggle against Israel. Qasim vowed that he would follow the political and military guidelines of former premier Syed Hassan Nasrallah. He said that they will fully continue Hassan Nasrallah’s war strategy.
Qasim said, “My way of working is similar to Nasrallah’s way of working. The guidelines we have set with him, the war path will also take us to the place where our victory is certain.” Sheikh Naim Qasim expressed his support for the people of the Gaza Strip, saying that their support against Israel’s threats is a “duty”.
Qasim described Yahya Sinwar as a hero who “fought for Palestine till his last breath.” The Hezbollah chief said, “Gaza’s support is important for the security of our region against Israel. Our fight is not only for the security of Lebanon, but for the entire region.”
Statement on relations with Iran
Responding to the ongoing discussions on Hezbollah’s relations with Iran, he made it clear that the organization fights for itself and Iran only supports, but does not want anything in return. Qasim said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran supports us but it does not want anything from us. Our fight is to protect our land and to support our Palestinian brothers.”
What were the conditions of ceasefire?
Regarding the discussion on Israel’s ceasefire proposals, Sheikh Naeem Qasim said that “if Israel wants to end the war, we will accept it, but we will not request Israel for this.” Qasim also warned, “Israel will have to get out of our land. If they stay, they will have to pay a heavy price. If Netanyahu claims victory, we will turn it into defeat.”
