Tanuj Pandey/ Nainital.The women associated with Hilans Kitchen, run by the women’s self-help group in the District Collectorate of Nainital, Uttarakhand, are not only getting empowered through it but are also becoming the financial support of the family. These women, full of confidence, are not only moving towards self-reliance, but are also giving a new identity by serving Kumaoni dishes and sharing our culture, our lifestyle and our food with more and more people. Here you will get a plate of delicious Pahari dishes at low prices. It consists of Bhat ki Chudkani, Gahat dal, Bhaat, Manduve roti, Jhangore kheer etc. Rajni Arya, operator of Hilans Kitchen, said that she has been running this kitchen in the District Collectorate premises for the last one year along with the women of her women’s support group Saloni Self-Help Group. There are 7 women associated with him. Rajni says that through this initiative, women are becoming self-reliant, strengthening their economy, and are also getting a medium for their skills.

Took benefit of government scheme

Hilans Kitchens were prepared in the year 2019-20 under the National Rural Livelihood Mission with the aim of strengthening women and self-help groups and providing employment to women. Three Hilans Kitchens were also started in Nainital city and the responsibility of running them was given to women self-help groups. Rajni says that by taking advantage of this government scheme, she is working here with the women of her group and is running Hilan’s Kitchen well.

The taste of Pahari cuisine is very special.

Rajni told that she has included Pahari Thali in her menu at Hilans Kitchen. She is serving Pahari dishes here, which include many types of Pahari dishes ranging from Bhat Ki Chudkani-Bhat, Jholi-Bhat, Pahadi Rajma Rice, Dubke-Bhat, Roti Sabji. He told that the rates of the dishes served here are fixed under the government scheme, which are very low and along with this, the real delicious taste of Pahari food is also available here. You can taste the Kumaoni thali served at their place for just Rs 60. In this thali you will get rice, bhat ki chudkani, vegetables, roti, raita. Apart from this, you will also get Jholi Bhaat and Rajma rice for just Rs 30 (half plate) and Rs 60 (full plate). To reach Hilans Kitchen located in the District Collectorate premises, you can reach here directly via Tallital market. The Collectorate office is located on Raj Bhavan Road, about one kilometer away from Tallital.
