In Prayagraj, which has been recorded as the hottest place in the country for the last three days, there is no space left for cremation at the cremation grounds. The roads leading to Shringverpur Dham cremation ground were packed with the crowd of people carrying the bodies. There was no space left even to park two-wheelers. On Tuesday, 414 bodies were cremated at four cremation grounds in the city and nearby areas.
People from Prayagraj as well as from Rewa and Hanuman of the neighbouring state of Madhya Pradesh reached the Daraganj cremation ground of the city to cremate the bodies. 80 bodies were cremated here till 11 pm.
According to Rajaram, a wood seller at the ghat, seeing the bodies being brought to the crematorium for two days brought back memories of the Corona period. Similarly, more than 60 bodies were cremated at Rasulabad Ghat within 24 hours. Similarly, the number of pyres for cremation kept increasing at the crematorium of Shringverpurdham.
By 2 pm on Tuesday, the number of pyres reached 100. By late night, 150 bodies were cremated here. During this time, there was a shortage of wood at the ghat. Similarly, 92 bodies were cremated within two days at Chhatnag crematorium in Jhunsi.
