In this book, she has mentioned in detail the story of the formation of modern Delhi and Connaught Place (Connaught Place name history). According to Swapna, Connaught Place was named after Prince Arthur of England, who was also called the Duke of Connaught. Prince Arthur was the third son of Queen Victoria. According to the Royal Collection Trust, Prince Arthur also visited Kolkata in 1921.

Connaught Place was built in 4 years
Connaught Place was built between 1929 and 1933. It took 4 years to build it. Connaught Place was being designed by architect Robert Tor Russell. The design was being made similar to the Royal Crescent in Bath, England. This area was being developed as a posh area for the British living in Delhi, the design of which was being prepared by architect Edwin Lutyens. Today those areas are also known as Lutyens Delhi.
The look of Connaught Place has changed
Today Connaught Place has become a huge commercial hub of Delhi. There are shops of big brands, big restaurants etc. here. The area has been designed in different circles. In the middle of the inner circle is the Central Park, below which is Palika Bazar. It is considered to be India’s first air-conditioned underground market.
