There are many gems in the world including Kohinoor Diamond and Hope Diamond, whose value cannot be estimated. These gems are special, so their shine is very special. These are very big, and no gem in the world can compare to them. Kohinoor is the beauty of the British Crown Jewels. Its weight is 105.60 carats. Whereas the weight of the Hope Diamond kept in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington is 45.52 carats. Many times questions were raised regarding the origin of these diamonds. There are many stories about Kohinoor. It is claimed that these diamonds were discovered in Southern India between 1600 and 1800. Later these were transported to Britain and other countries. Now scientists for the first time have claimed to have solved the mystery of their origin.
Kohinoor diamond is called a cursed diamond because the king to whom it went lost his life. Similarly, the stories of Hole Diamond, Regent Diamond are also quite famous. It is said that the Regent Diamond kept in the Louvre Museum was stolen from the mine by a diamond miner. He had hidden this diamond inside the wound on his leg. According to scientists, such diamonds are usually found in pits dug in the sediment along the river banks. But when a volcano erupts, they come out. This area is called kimberlite field.
They originated in Vajrakarur, Andhra Pradesh.
Recently, a research published in the Journal of Earth System Science claimed that the world’s most famous diamonds including Kohinoor were found 300 kilometers away from Vajrakarur kimberlite field in Andhra Pradesh, India. Yaakov Weiss, a geochemist who studies diamonds at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said, “We found that the ground in Vajrakrur is a strong base for diamonds.” We studied the soil here. It was found that there is enough evidence of such diamonds being kept in the lithosphere i.e. hard layer and upper mantle. Golconda’s diamonds are formed deeper in the mantle. Perhaps these would have been formed around the center of the earth.
big diamonds coming from the depths of the earth
Geologists Hero Kalra, Ashish Dongre and Swapnil Vyas of Savitribai Phule Pune University did this research. Said, we believe that large diamonds are coming from deep in the earth. The kimberlite rocks from the Vajrakarur region probably come from the depths where diamonds are mined. Remote sensing data revealed that there used to be an ancient river here, which carried the diamonds to the Krishna River and its tributaries. Where these were found. He said, no one knows how these deep diamonds reach the earth’s surface. But when a volcano erupts, they come out of the earth’s womb and get trapped in the upper surface mantle. Then when kimberlite erupts, they become visible on the earth’s surface. Kohinoor and other diamonds also came out of the earth in the same way.
