New strains of monkeypox have been found for the first time in China. This strain is being said to be more dangerous than before, its name is Clade 1B. The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported on January 9 that China has recently discovered monkeypox strain Clade 1B. The source of which has been revealed from a foreigner traveling to Congo Democratic Republic. As soon as this was found out, that person was kept under special surveillance. Special surveillance has been kept on those close to this person. The remaining 4 people got infected only after coming in contact with this man. At present no infection has been found in the general population. People affected by this disease are being treated and also kept under special observation.
CDC also published a notice on its WeChat account on Thursday. And it said that those who come in contact with monkeypox patients or people showing suspicious symptoms of monkeypox, they should definitely get their initial checkup done. Issuing a notice, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that the symptoms of this strain of monkeypox are also like the earlier monkeypox – symptoms like fever, rash or lymphadenopathy are visible.
Cases of MPOX have been reported since July 14, 2022, with the most recent case being reported on March 27, 2024. The question arises whether India should be afraid of this new strain? The answer is that India should not be afraid at all because this disease is not new to India also.
