How is silver work made?
Leather is used to make silver work. The silver leaf (silver) is placed in the leather and made thinner by hammering it for a long time with a special type of hammer. By doing this the silver turns into a thin membrane-like layer. This fine layer is called silver work. After this it is taken out and packed in paper and sold in the market. The silver work made in animal skin is no longer usable in worship, fasting etc. That’s why the use of any part of the animal for making work was banned. Earlier animal leather was used to make silver work, on which people objected, so now a sheet called German butter paper or specially made black paper is being used to make it. Now-a-days silver work is being made with the help of machines. Due to which they can be used in worship or fasting etc.
