Storm Dana hit the coast of Odisha late on Thursday night. It made landfall at around 12:45 pm in Dhamra in Bhadrak district of Odisha. At the time of its landfall, Dana’s speed was 120 km per hour. However, gradually its speed has decreased somewhat. According to the Meteorological Department, its speed will reduce in Odisha by Friday evening (25 October 2024).
Due to Dana, strong winds continued to blow at a speed of 100 to 120 km per hour in many areas of Odisha and Bengal on Friday morning. Apart from this, heavy rains are also continuing in many districts of both the states. It is a matter of relief that no major incident has come to light so far.

Trees fell at many places due to heavy rain and wind
As soon as Dana made landfall late at night, rains along with strong winds started in Odisha. There has been huge devastation in Odisha due to strong winds. Trees have fallen at many places. There are also reports of falling of electric poles in some areas. The maximum damage has been done in Bhadrak and Bansada. There are also reports of many big hoardings falling in Bansda.

Storm Dana has moved north-northwest at a speed of 10 km per hour and today i.e. on October 25 at around 5.30 pm, is about 20 km north-northwest of Dhamra in North Coastal Odisha and 40 km north-northwest of Hablikhati Nature Camp. Will be concentrated in the west. According to IMD, the landfall process is ongoing and this process will continue for the next 1-2 hours. The cyclonic storm is likely to gradually weaken by this afternoon.
Red alert of heavy rain in many districts
According to IMD, the impact of the storm will continue till Friday afternoon, during which the wind speed is expected to be 100-110 km/hour. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain in seven districts. Heavy rain has been reported in Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts.
