The figures also say that the United States and Canada are the two countries that attract the most Indian students. 4.65 lakh and 1.83 lakh students respectively went here for studies in the year 2022. After this came Australia, UAE and UK. The average number of Indian students going here was 1 lakh, 1.64 lakh and 55 thousand.

The figures released in this regard are enough to raise concerns as to why so many Indian students go abroad for studies every year. According to the Central Education Ministry, about 3 lakh more students went abroad in the year 2022 as compared to the year 2021. According to the Education Ministry, between the years 2017 and 2022, the number of students going abroad for higher education was more than 30 lakh.
