According to the latest report, in 2022-23, the unemployment rate among youth aged 15 years and above was 2.4 in rural India and 5.4 in urban India.

Employment has increased compared to earlier

In response to this question, the government, based on the Worker Population Ratio (WPR) report, said that the number of working youth has increased in the last few years. While the number of working youth was 52.6 percent in the year 2020-21, it increased to 52.9 percent in 2021-22. Whereas, in 2022-23 this number increased to 56 percent.

To understand unemployment, you first have to understand the labor force. Actually, in India, people aged 15 years and above are counted in the working age group. The total number of people working and those looking for work in this working age group is called the current labour force. Now let us understand the definition of unemployment. The percentage of unemployed in the labour force is calculated on the basis of these standards.
