How Ratan Tata will fail China’s plan with Elon Musk, which spy satellite will they make?

To compete with China, Indian company Tata Group has also prepared a spy satellite. Of the many countries’ satellites present in space, China has the largest number of satellites. Many of these are used by its army i.e. People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to gather intelligence. In this direction, for the first time, private sector company Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has prepared a military grade space satellite to help the Indian Army. For this, Tata Group owner Ratan Tata has joined hands with Elon Musk. This satellite will be launched in April from the rocket of Elon Musk’s company SpaceX.

The Economic Times report said that this will be the first spy satellite of a private company, which TASL will send to Florida and will be launched from there through a SpaceX rocket in April. In the last few years, India has focused more on increasing its military strength. In this direction, this step is being considered more important for India.

There is a lot of discussion in Russian newspapers also that this year India will overtake Russia in the matter of missile launching. Since the war with Ukraine, Russia has lagged far behind internationally in launching new missiles. Along with missile launching, it is also important that India is emphasizing on using space to fulfill military objectives. Along with monitoring military activities and adversaries, spy satellites will also be used for satellite-linked unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which the Indian Army will include in its fleet.

The Indian Army already has the Israeli Hermes-900 and there are plans to include the American MQ-9B in the army fleet. However, compared to China, India currently has much less number of satellites. According to the Military Balance Report published by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, China had 66 spy satellites in 2019, whose number will increase to 136 in 2022.
