The court of Additional Sessions Judge Court No. 1 Mahendra Srivastava of Hathras has convicted the husband in the dowry murder case and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the accused. If the fine is not paid, the accused will have to undergo additional imprisonment.

Bhagwan Singh had given a complaint in Sahapau police station. In the complaint, he had said that his daughter Seema was married to Sanjay Yadav, son of Chandrapal, resident of Nagla Baini, Sahapau police station, Hathras district, on 7 July 2016. He had spent 10 lakh rupees on his daughter’s wedding. A few days after the wedding, the in-laws kept demanding a four-wheeler and repeatedly beat and harassed his daughter.

His daughter stayed at his house for 10 months. The daughter has a nine-month-old daughter who was born at his house. After that, his daughter was taken by her in-laws to their house and she was murdered on 23 August 2018 at around 3 pm by Sanjay Yadav son of Chandrapal, Chandrapal son of Udal Singh, Anokhi Devi wife of Chandrapal and other in-laws. A case was registered in this matter.

ADGC Shivendra Singh Chauhan, who is pleading on behalf of the prosecution, said that the investigating officer filed a chargesheet in the court after investigating the case. During the trial, the accused Chandrapal son of Udal Singh died and hence the proceedings against him were terminated. The case was heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Court No. 1 Mahendra Srivastava. After hearing both the sides, the court convicted the accused husband Sanjay Yadav and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment.
