In Asif Bagh of Rorawar police station area in Aligarh, late night on 18th October, the husband strangled his wife to death with a scarf. After the incident, the accused himself called the police control room and said that he has murdered his wife. The police have taken the accused into custody.
Rabia (45), resident of Nagla Bhika, Hathras, was married to Irfan, resident of Asif Bagh, about 16 years ago. Husband works as a junk dealer. According to family members, there were two plots of 50-50 square yards in Rabia’s name. Irfan was pressurizing him to sell the plot. There was a dispute going on between the couple on this issue on Friday night.
It is alleged that at night Irfan sent all three children to sleep at his brother’s house living in the neighbourhood. At night again there was a dispute between the couple regarding the plot. As the dispute escalated, Irfan strangled Rabia to death with a dupatta. After this, I called 112 and told the police that I had killed my wife. The police station was shocked to hear about the murder of the woman. Police personnel reached the spot and took the accused Irfan into custody. The police brought the accused to the police station.
The maternal side, which arrived from Hathras on information, alleged that three people were involved in Rabia’s murder. The police changed the complaint and made the husband the accused. Based on brother’s complaint, police have registered a case of murder against accused Irfan. After the post-mortem, people from the maternal side took the body to Hathras.
