Hustle Review: Another sports film, but one to watch

There are talent spotters in any sports club in America, whose job is to travel abroad and find champion talent for that sport. These talent spotters are often former players who have a great understanding of the game and are able to spot the talents of exceptional players. Talent spotters try to identify these players at an early age, so that they are signed and included in the club, then their game is honed and they are given a place in the team. Due to their extraordinary talent, these players, with proper training, good food and proper care, improve their game and achieve success soon. There is a need for talent spotters in India, but they do not have any special respect. Basketball is popular in America and many movies have also been made on it. Space Jam, The Basketball Diaries, Finding Forester, Glory Road and Coach Carter have also been quite successful. In this episode, recently a simple film Hustle was released on Netflix. The story of the film is similar to a traditional sports film, but it is a lot of fun to watch because most of the actors connect with the audience.

Adam Sandler has previously worked in many sports films like The Waterboy, The Longest Yard, Uncut James and his role has been liked every time. This time his role in Hustle has also been written very well. In the film, Adam plays Stanley Sugarman, a former basketball player who is unable to play basketball due to an accident, so he becomes a talent spotting agent for the Philadelphia 76ers, a flagship club of the National Basketball Association, in order to hit home runs. After club owner Rex Merrick (Robert Duvall) passes away, his son Vince Merrick (Ben Foster) doesn’t particularly like Stanley’s work. Stanley travels the country looking for new players for the club and ends up in Spain where he falls in love with the game of Bo Cruz (Juancho), an unknown player. Stanley brings him to Philadelphia with him to sign him for the club. Vince doesn’t like Bo Cruz’s game. Stanley takes this as an insult and quits his job at the Philadelphia club to get Bo trained professionally to become the best player he can be. Bo doesn’t get any chance even after going through a lot of difficulties because Bo can’t control his anger. Bo’s family return to Spain from America, just as Bo leaves to board the flight. Stanley is asked by his friend to fetch Bo. Stanley and Bo barely make it to the basketball court, where once again Bo impresses the selectors with his showmanship and talent.

There is a scene about 10 minutes long in Hustle, in which Stanley trains Bo to become a professional basketball player. This scene is the life of the entire film. Bo Cruz did a great job in this training video. When Bo comes to America, he does nothing but eat at hotels and watch pornography. He only relies on his talent for his game but Stanley has been a professional player, he knows that talent alone is not enough. He makes Bo work hard, makes him exercise to increase his stamina, teaches trick play, makes him practice with the best players. Just this 10 minute scene made it clear that talent has its own importance then discipline has its own and nothing can happen until the balance of both is established. Adam Sandler does a great job. In some emotional scenes, he acts with his eyes. Queen Latifah is also very cute in the role of his wife. She is quite aware of her husband’s passion for basketball, but she is also practical, so she takes upon herself the responsibility of running the house. Despite the dedication, the dedication of love never allows the scenes to be over-emotional. Juancho has also acted in step with Adam. The 6 feet 9 inches tall actor has made spontaneity his weapon. He himself plays basketball very well, but in this film, he has dared to show his game by improving it. Saw Robert Duval after a long time. Even at the age of 91, Robert’s personality and his acting in the role continue to impress the audience.

The screenplay of the film is written by Will Fatters and Tyler Mattern. Will has also written beautiful films like ‘A Star is Born’ before this while this is Tyler’s first film. As in every sports drama film, everything is decided, the end of the story is also decided and sometimes even the scenes seem to be a new copy of each other, in such a situation only the best writing can save you from boredom. . The same has happened in Hustle. Due to the producer of the film, International Basketball Star LeBron James, many basketball players worked in the film so that the reality could be seen in the scenes. The film should be seen completely from the point of view of entertainment. Abuses come for free in English films, but if a film is made without it, the whole family can sit together and watch it.
