What to do in such a situation?
If you get such a call and the person on the other end calls himself a Crime Branch or a police officer or anything, you should not believe his words. If you watch obscene pictures or videos or have ever seen them, even then you should not believe anything he says nor should you be afraid of him. You should disconnect the call and block the number. Also mark the number as spam. If you get such calls repeatedly, then immediately lodge a complaint with the cyber cell.
Criminals are also doing digital arrests
In many cases, cyber criminals are digitally arresting people and taking all their personal details from them. A similar case came to light in Noida. An engineer received a phone call and was told that we are calling from IB and Mumbai Crime Branch. A courier is being sent to Taiwan on your Aadhaar card, in which many types of drugs and suspicious substances have been found. Our team is going to interrogate you, but till then you are digitally arrested and you will have to sit in front of us on video call.
This Noida engineer was kept on video call for 48 hours by cyber criminals and all personal information and bank details were obtained from him. However, at the last moment, a family member got smart and complained about it to the media and the police. Now the police is taking action against these cyber criminals. But if you ever get such a call, then you should be careful.
