After UPSC topper Tina Dabi, now IAS officer Smita Sabharwal’s 12th marksheet is going viral on social media. At the age of just 23, Smita surprised the country by securing fourth rank in the UPSC examination.
Born in Darjeeling, West Bengal, Smita was raised in Hyderabad. She completed her schooling from St. Ann’s High School, Secunderabad. In 1995, she scored 94% in English and Hindi and 90% in Economics in the CISCE Indian School Certificate Examination. Smita says that it was her dream to join the civil service since childhood. She failed in the UPSC exam for the first time, but she did not give up and secured fourth rank in the second attempt.
Today, Smita Sabharwal is a famous IAS officer in Telangana. She is dedicated to public service and is known for listening to people’s problems and solving them. Smita used to study for 6 hours daily, but she also took out an hour for sports in her daily routine. Apart from this, she always used to read newspapers and magazines to stay updated with the news.

Topped UPSC exam in second attempt
For the UPSC exam, Smita Sabharwal had chosen subjects like anthropology and public administration. Even after failing in the preliminary examination in the first attempt, Smita did not give up and kept working hard. In the year 2000, she secured fourth position in the UPSC examination and became one of the youngest IAS officers in the country.
