Ideas of India 2024: Shahrukh Khan South director Atlee Kumar has become a superstar by directing Ki Jawan. Jawan did a great job at the box office. Atlee said on Jawan’s hit
Atlee said- ‘Films are not bound by languages. Movie is art, it is love. Language is never a barrier when you are about to create something which you create from the heart. That is why I feel that I did not know Hindi but I make whatever I can make. I create what you can feel. That’s why I think Jawan proved to be the biggest hit. I have UAE fans who do not know Hindi, I have Hollywood fans who do not know Hindi, so it is a matter of feelings.
How was the experience of working with Shahrukh Khan?
‘I have seen many films of Shahrukh Khan. I like all his films. DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express. This list will go on. One thing I like about him is his screen presence. No one can match him. He is the face of Indian cinema to the world. It was my dream to work with Shahrukh Khan and the happy thing is that I got a chance to work with him in my fifth film itself.
This is how the journey started
Atlee told- ‘I had a lot of interest in dance in my childhood. There was a very good dancer in my mother’s accordion. After that I started dancing. Then I started doing choreography during my school days. After that I started telling the story through choreography. This is how my interest in direction arose. After that I started making short films and then assisted Shankar sir. After assisting for five years, I became a director. My journey started as a dancer and now I have become a director. ,
This was like the first day on the set
Atlee said- ‘My first day on the set was with Rajinikanth sir and that film was Robot. I became very myself on the very first day. I have worked with Shankar sir, Rajinikanth sir, Thalapathy Vijay sir and now Shahrukh sir.
It is difficult for directors to enter the industry
Atlee said- ‘It is difficult to become anything in any industry, it is a mindset, but if you pray for it, wish for it and do the basics, then you definitely get it. If Atlee can become a director in Indian cinema then anyone can. Therefore you have to keep your heart open and pray. You get everything.’
There should be social message in films
Atlee said- ‘It is important to have a social message in the film. If God has given you a chance and there is a chair lying next to you. If God has given me the voice to say something through films, then I should give a social message for my film. The makers are earning money but people should also take something away from the film.
