Ideas of India Summit 2024: Apart from being an actress, Ila Arun is a Rajasthani folk-pop singer who is also a big name in the world of Hindi cinema and Indian pop. Ila has worked in many Bollywood films like Lamhe, Jodha Akbar, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Begum Jaan. Ila spoke about family values, tradition and modernity at the Idea of India Summit 2024.

Ila Arun reached the Idea of India Summit with her brother Prasun Pandey and Piyush Pandey. During this, he was asked what is his Idea of India, while replying to this he said – ‘I am from that era where there is unity in diversity, like Prasun said that our WhatsApp is called Parlenium. So where did we grow from, there were 9 siblings to 45. People from every province have come to our house. So diversity in unity is the idea here which is of India.

‘Stay connected to your roots then…’
Singer further said- ‘We were born after independence but our mother had taught us to respect everyone. Take everyone’s ideas and love everyone’s language. Speak with love and stay connected to your roots, only then will India blossom.

Piyush Pandey narrated a story about neighbor love
Talking about growing up in Jaipur, Piyush Pandey said, all joking aside, growing up in Jaipur was the best thing that happened to us. There was a small town which you know today. The city was small, the schools were small, the neighborhoods were small but the relationships within the family were strong. When we were in Jaipur, many times there would be a dal on the table in people’s homes. Once I went to Jaipur, there were two daals on my table, so I asked my parents how they were. So he said that whoever is your neighbor knows that you like his dal. So in this way two pulses were formed. So such things do not happen in today’s times.

Prasoon Pandey told how he was brought up
Talking about coming from a small town and then making a name for himself in a city like Mumbai, Prasoon Pandey said – We gave importance to the environment in which we grew up. I’m the youngest. When I came into this world, my mother created the best arts school for me. My elder sister was learning painting. Some of my sisters used to play sitar, some used to sing songs and some were doing theatre. All this was around us and sometimes I wondered what to learn next. I think it was fun when we were all together. Which we are missing now because now everyone gets separate rooms. We all used to have mattresses arranged from one side to the other on one roof, we all used to sleep there and it was not that we used to fall asleep as soon as we left. Some of my sisters are talking to mother and some are talking to each other. So what happened was that my idea is not my idea, I framed what I saw and presented it.

How Ila Arun became a folk singer?
When Ila Arun was asked how she got interested in folk singing, she said – I had ears that listened well, but the environment was present in Rajasthan, as you heard that we have a big family, so a At the same time, when the whole year’s wheat arrived, the village women used to come to pluck it, then they used to sing to remove the boredom of that work and we used to sit near them.

Said this about staying connected to the roots
I studied at Maharaja Multipurpose High Secondary School, it was a municipality school and I am connected to my roots. I have a beautiful friend, Nafisa, who used to come from Ramganj market. We have heard these folk songs and simple life from the drivers. My driver used to sing. He used to take it on bicycle. So all this went inside us unknowingly. Now the 9 children, whatever was in Rajasthan, took it in their own way. Talking about her dressing, Ila said- Some say that they like the style of your bindi, some say that you wear silver.
