What is RAC?
The full form of RAC is Reservation Against Cancellation. Which means if someone’s ticket is canceled then you will get the full seat. In case of RAC, one berth is converted into a seat for two passengers and 2 passengers have to sit on it. You don’t get a seat to sleep if you have RAC status. If any one person cancels his reservation when 2 people get a seat in RAC, then the other passenger gets the entire seat.
What should passengers do while waiting?
This happens only when there is RAC. If waiting show is happening in your ticket status, then you cannot sit in the reservation compartment. In this situation, you will have to travel in the general compartment of the train.
What do you get bedroll?
Actually, earlier passengers with RAC tickets were not given the facility of bed roll. Due to which the passengers used to face a lot of trouble. Due to non-availability of bedrolls in AC coaches, the passengers used to get upset due to the cold. Taking this into cognizance, the Railway Board in 2017 started the facility of bedrolls to both the passengers of RAC. However, the bedroll of RAC passengers will have one bedsheet, pillow and blanket each for both. While two bedsheets, a blanket, a pillow and a towel are provided in the bedrolls of those with confirmed tickets. There is no provision of RAC ticket in both First Class and AC Chair Car.
