The Government of India on Tuesday (January 7) announced that V Narayanan will replace S Somnath as the new chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Dr. V Narayanan will take charge in place of S Somnath on January 14. Dr. V Narayanan has been a topper of a prestigious institute of the country. He completed his entire education while staying in the country and joined ISRO in the year 1984.

Let us tell you that S Somnath will retire on January 14 after completing his two-year tenure. Let us tell you that S. Somnath took charge as ISRO Chairman on 14 January 2022. According to the order of the Appointment Committee, V Narayanan will hold both these important posts for the next two years or until further orders.

Dr. V Narayanan has played an important role in ISRO.

V Narayanan is a well-known and respected scientist with nearly four decades of experience in the field of rocket and spacecraft propulsion. Nowadays he is working as the Director of Liquid Propulsion System Center (LPSC) which is a major center of ISRO.

His scientific journey started from Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) where he made important contributions in the development of Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV) and Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Apart from this, he also played an important role in the manufacturing and testing of many key systems like Ablative Nozzle System, Composite Motor Case and Composite Igniter Case. V Narayanan has made significant contributions in making ISRO’s space missions successful which has helped India become a leading nation in the space sector.

Did B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD from this institute

ISRO’s new chief Dr. V Narayanan did M.Tech in Cryogenic Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in the year 1989 with first rank. After this, he completed his PhD in Aerospace Engineering in the year 2001. He has received a gold medal from the Astronomical Society of India.

Entry into ISRO in the year 1984

Dr. V Narayanan is a resident of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. According to LPSC, his entry in ISRO was in the year 1984. Initially, for about four years, he worked in the solid propulsion area of ​​Sounding Rockets, Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle and Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.

Worked on more than 1200 internal reports

Dr. Narayanan has published many important technical papers, which include 1200 internal reports, 50 journal/research papers and 3 book chapters. Additionally, he has delivered several keynote addresses at premier engineering institutes such as IITs and NITs and has also participated in 10 convocations.
