IIT Madras Invented A Portable Device To Detect Milk And Other Liquid Adulteration

Milk Purity Test Device: We all are troubled by the adulteration coming in the milk. This adulteration destroys the qualities of milk, but at the same time it is also very dangerous for our health. The serious problem is that adulteration is not easy to detect. However, now the researchers of IIT Madras have made this task easier. Now with the help of a device, you will be able to detect adulteration in milk sitting at home. Actually, IIT Madras has created a portable 3D paper-based device that can detect adulteration in milk. This device can open the pole of adulteration in just 30 seconds. The special thing is that now there is no need to go to any lab for testing adulteration. With this device, adulteration can be detected from only one milliliter of milk while sitting at home.

What kind of adulteration does the device detect?

This device prepared by IIT Madras can detect adulterated elements like detergent powder, soap, hydrogen peroxide, urea, starch, salt, and sodium-hydrogen-carbonate dissolved in any liquid. This device has been prepared by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras.

How does the device work?

This 3D paper-based microfluidic device has a top and bottom cover. The sandwich structure is added in the middle layer of the device. This 3D design of the device is capable of transporting any liquid at a uniform speed. A reagent is used on its paper and it is kept to dry. After drying the paper is applied to the device and sealed with double sided tape.

Adulteration of these liquids will also be detected

A new 3D paper-based portable device developed by IIT Madras can detect adulteration in milk quickly and accurately, but it can also detect adulteration in other liquids as well. The device can also be used for testing other liquids such as fresh juices and milkshakes.
