IMD Rainfall Updates: Monsoon has arrived in the country. With this, there is a possibility of rain in many states. Amidst the scorching sun and heat, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given good news. The department has said that clouds are going to be kind in many states including Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. There is a possibility of rain in these states. With the arrival of monsoon in Kerala, it is raining heavily.
According to Hindustan Live’s report, IMD has said that there is a possibility of rain in a total of 14 states from May 30. The states where rain is going to occur include northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim. Rain is expected along with winds in these states. Not only this, but due to the arrival of monsoon in Kerala, showers are also going to occur in Tamil Nadu.
Extreme heatwave and heat effect in North India
The Meteorological Department has already issued a red alert for states like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh regarding the increasing heat and heatwave. On Thursday (30 May) also, a severe heatwave is going on in these states. The temperature has been recorded above 40 degrees. The heat is so intense that it has become difficult for people to go out of their homes. It is expected that there may be relief from the heat in the coming days.
Monsoon rains started in Kerala
Monsoon has arrived in Kerala ahead of time. The Meteorological Department had predicted the arrival of monsoon by May 31, but the monsoon reached the state a day earlier on Thursday. Heavy rains were already occurring in Kerala before the arrival of monsoon. Now due to monsoon clouds, heavy rains are being witnessed in the entire state. Waterlogging has also occurred in cities like Kochi to Kottayam. The weather is going to remain like this for the next few days.
At the same time, meteorologists have said that cyclone Remal pulled the monsoon flow towards the Bay of Bengal, which could be a reason for the premature arrival of monsoon in the Northeast. Cyclone Remal hit the coast of West Bengal and Bangladesh on Sunday.
