Parthiv Patel On Rahul Dravid’s Coaching: These days the Indian team is playing a 5-match T20 series against the West Indies under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. Team India has trailed 0-2 in the series after losing the first two matches. After two consecutive defeats of India, the criticism of Captain Hardik Pandya is being seen. Meanwhile, Parv Indian player Parthiv Patel made a big claim that head coach Rahul Dravid does not support captain Hardik.
Parthiv believes that Hardik needs a supportive coach like Ashish Nehra (coach of Gujarat Titans). Hardik Pandya made Gujarat the champion in the very first season (IPL 2022) under his captaincy. After this, in the next season (IPL 2023), Gujarat Titans reached the final, where the team had to face defeat against Chennai Super Kings.
Talking on ‘Cricbuzz’, Parthiv Patel said, “There have been many instances regarding Hardik Pandya’s captaincy in which mistakes have been made. The first letter was to give Patel that over in that match when Nicholas Pooran came to bat. And today, this (not giving Chahal the fourth over in the second T20 International). Hardik Pandya has been brilliant as captain with Gujarat Titans, but he got the support of Ashish Nehra in Gujarat Titans.
Parthiv Patel further said, “But is Rahul Dravid the active coach or person we are looking for in the T20 format. I do not think so. In my mind, we need someone who is very active. Hardik has that spark inside but he needs support, which according to me Rahul Dravid does not give.
The former Indian cricketer said, “Look, T20 format is usually something that changes in a jiffy of the game. One decision here and there, which in this case Hardik Pandya was not to give over to Chahal. They didn’t complete 4 overs of their quota, so for me, that was something that put the game in West Indies’ favour.”
