India Keep Eye On China Through HAPS: At this time, India is not lagging behind in proving its strength on the world map. In this sequence, India has achieved an achievement. India is close to installing the High Altitude Platform System (HAPS) high in the sky to keep an eye on its strongest rival China. With its help, it will help in strengthening India’s position in the continuous confrontation with Chinese troops on the heights of the Himalayas. Earlier, the shortcomings of ISR proved India weak, which will now be eliminated with the arrival of HAPS.
The High Altitude Platform System (HAPS) flew continuously for 21 hours during testing. It is a part of India’s drone Wingman program, which is scheduled to make its first flight in 2024. HAPS is a remotely operated plane, which can fly at an altitude of 65,000 feet. It flies with the help of solar energy. This will be useful in reducing the distance between satellites flying around the earth and drones flying inside the stratosphere. Because of this it can rotate for months without any interruption.
HAPS will keep monitoring at low cost
A CDO satellite will significantly reduce the cost of surveillance compared to High-Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones such as the High Altitude Platform System (HAPS) Reaper. USAF Reaper category drones cost approximately $3500 per hour to operate. HAPS category drones, on the other hand, cost less than $500 per hour. The HAPS prototype has been designed by Bengaluru-based startup Space Research and Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
It is being prepared by the Indian Defense Ministry under the Innovation for Defense Excellence (iDEX) initiative. Sameer Joshi, CEO of New Space Research and Technologies, has given information on this on X (formerly Twitter).
