India Maldives Disputer Fwice Press Release To Boycott Maldives For Shooting And Filming


India vs Maldives: Amidst the ongoing tension between India and Maldives, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has appealed to all filmmakers/producers not to shoot in Maldives. Also, instead of Maldives, it has been advised to shoot in other similar places in India.

FWICE issued a press release on January 10 and wrote that FWICE has decided to boycott Maldives in protest against the derogatory remarks made by Maldivian leaders regarding globally respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

What’s in this press release?

Describing the derogatory statement by three ministers of Maldives, it is written in the press release, ‘‘In view of the rising tensions between India and Maldives over the derogatory statements by three Maldivian ministers, PM honored at FWICE Worldstar, the oldest and largest body of workers, technicians and artistes working in the media and entertainment industry. Narendra Modi Condemns the irresponsible and wrong comments of Maldivian ministers regarding. In solidarity with the nation and its broader culture, FWICE has decided to boycott the Maldives and its shooting locations. Instead, FWICE appeals to its members to shoot at similar locations in India and contribute to the development of tourism in India.

Apart from this, it is further written in this press release that all the producers in India and around the world are advised not to plan to do any kind of shooting or production activity in Maldives. We all stand in support of our PM and the nation.

What is Maldives dispute?

When PM Modi promoted the tourism of Lakshadweep during his visit, the search for Lakshadweep on Google increased. After this, many social media users started sharing pictures of Lakshadweep and it started being talked about that when in our own country If there is such a beautiful place then what is the need to spend holidays and go anywhere.

After this, Maldivian ministers commented in protest. After this, the controversy grew so much that Mariam Shiuna, a minister in the Muizzu government, made objectionable remarks, after which she had to delete her tweet after being criticized. Apart from this, two more leaders of Maldives Malsha Sharif and Mahjoom Majeed also made objectionable comments on the pictures shared by PM Modi regarding Lakshadweep. Senate member Zaheer Rameez also made similar derogatory remarks.

However, while presenting its stand on behalf of the Muizzu government, it was written on social media that whatever comments have been made on India are not the stand of the Maldives government. After this, news also came that the Muizzu government has suspended the three leaders including Maryam.
