India 5th gen fighter jet: China has prepared the 5th generation stealth fighter jet J-35A. Pakistan can also deal with China with J-35A, after which Pakistanβs Air Force will also become stronger. Here India currently has a 4.5 generation fighter jet. Now India is preparing a plan to increase the development of fifth generation stealth fighter and soon to include it in the fleet of the Air Force. A top level committee headed by the Defense Secretary is working for the development of Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
A committee headed by Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, which includes the Deputy Chief Air Marshal SP Dharkar of the Indian Air Force, Defense Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, DRDO and the top officers of the Aernotical Development Agency (ADA). It will submit its report to the government next month. India is working on the 5th generation fighter jet at a time when Pakistan is planning to buy at least 40 J-35A Stealth Fighter Jet from China. TOI reported that China had deployed 5th generation fighter Jet Chengdu J-20 on its airports Hoton and Shigatse located on India.
Foreign companies will be dealing with engine
In view of the delay in production of fourth generation Tejas Jet by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), this committee will also focus on preparing fighter jets inside the timeline. For this, a deal will also be done with private sector companies. This committee will also consider the plan of indigenous development of 110 Kilonuton Thrust-Class Engine of 25 tonnes of AMCA of 25 tonnes with foreign technology cooperation. For this, a deal will be done with major companies of Aero engine like American General Electric, Franceβs Safran, British Rolls-Royce.
Central government had approved 15 thousand crores
In March 2024, the Cabinet Committee headed by PM Modi approved the development of 5th generation of fighter jet of twin-engine AMCA at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore. However, AMCA will be able to develop by 2035 only with a thrust-to-weet ratio, advanced sensor fusion and stealth facilities like internal weapon bay, serpentine air-Attech. A source told TOI that reducing the deadline would be a challenge, but due to the increasing technical shortcomings of the Airforce, one will have to make an effort.
India currently has 31 squadrons
At this time, the Air Force of India is facing a big challenge. The Air Force needs at least 48 squadrons, but currently it has only 31 squadrons. At least eight and squadron drones are going to retire in the next 10 years. A squadron consists of 18 fighter aircraft. India bought 36 Rafael fighter jets from France in the last few years. Two of his squadrons were created. One squadron was deployed on the Pakistan border while the other squadron was deployed on the border of China.
AMCA will consist of 7 squadrons in the Air Force
The Air Force is currently planning to include AMCAβs seven squadrons (126 jets), which will have other facilities like AI-operated electronic pilot system, Nettric Warfare System, Integrated Vehicle Health Management. While the first two squadrons will have 98 Kilonuton Thrst GE-F414 engines, the next five will have 110 Kilonuton engines. The number of decreasing fighter jets near the Air Force will be completed by incorporating 180 Tejas Mark-1A and 108 Tejas Mark-2 jets gradually.
