Sales of tablets increase in 2024
India’s tablet market recorded robust growth in the third quarter of 2024 (Q3 2024), with year-on-year (YoY) growth of 46% and quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth of 79%. This growth is especially due to the increasing demand for 5G tablets and consumer inclination towards expensive devices, especially during the festive season.
The report said that there was a tremendous increase of 108% in the sales of tablets priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000, which clearly shows the trend towards premium models. Wi-Fi-only tablets had a 62% market share among budget-friendly users, while 5G tablets for on-the-go connectivity had a 19% market share.
Apple and Samsung dominated
Apple led with 34% market share and 95% YoY growth, with the popularity of the iPad 10 series driving 60% of shipments. Samsung took the second position with 25% market share and 70% YoY growth, with the Galaxy A9 Plus 5G accounting for 52%. At the same time, Xiaomi recorded an annual growth of 146% in India’s affordable market due to Redmi Pad models.
Lenovo saw a 13% decline in sales, while OnePlus achieved 97% YoY growth with its Pad Go Wi-Fi series. CMR estimates India’s tablet market to grow by 10-15% in the rest of the year. Will see growth. Consumers’ interest in premium and affordable tablets, and growing commercial demand in education, health and hospitality technology will contribute significantly to this.
