India took a big step for nuclear power, China-Pakistan kept watching, PM Modi and Ajit Doval in AEC


Atomic Energy Commission: The Central Government has reconstituted the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), in which TV Somanathan and Manoj Govil have been included. Both have held the post of Cabinet Secretary and Expenditure Secretary. 

According to a notification issued on October 21 last year and published in the Gazette on January 9, the AEC also includes Pankaj Kumar Mishra who had taken charge as member (finance) last year. 

Know who got the place

In the reconstituted AEC, Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, is its Chairman. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Pramod Kumar Mishra, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Somanathan and Govil are ex-officio members of the commission."text-align: justify;">Other members include former AEC chairmen MR Srinivasan and Anil Kakodkar, former Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology P Rama Rao, former Principal Advisor (DAE) Ravi B Grover and former Space Commission Chairman K. Contains Kasturirangan. Vivek Bhasin, director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, is also an ex-officio member of the commission. AEC works to prepare policies for the Department of Atomic Energy.

America will lift nuclear sanctions on India

It is noteworthy that America has started the process of removing the old restrictions imposed on Indian nuclear institutions. This will further strengthen the energy relations between America and India. Apart from this, the 20 year old historical nuclear agreement will get new momentum. This was announced by US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan during his visit to New Delhi. 

During this time he had said, "America is removing those rules which were hindering civil nuclear cooperation between Indian and American companies. He had said that its formalities will be completed soon. This will open new opportunities in the nuclear energy sector between the two countries.
