Indian Airlines Bomb Threat: Mumbai Police on Wednesday (October 16) detained a man from Chhattisgarh for making false bomb threats on three planes. Also, an FIR has been registered in the case of Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Bangalore. According to Delhi IGI Airport Police, legal action has been taken in 8 cases so far.
The social media account from which this threat call was given has been suspended. Legal action is being taken against all the calls which have been found to be fake. In some cases, non-cognizable reports have also been made. In total, legal action has now been taken in 8 cases. In the Akasa Air case, the section of BNS which has been added in the FIR against the person making fake calls, has a provision of punishment up to life imprisonment.
What steps were taken by the government?
The government is on high alert after continuous bomb threats on different flights in the last three days. Airlines whose flights have received threats include Air India, Akasa Air, Indigo Airlines, SpiceJet etc. The Civil Aviation Ministry called a high-level meeting on Tuesday as threats are being received continuously on flights. The Home Ministry has asked for a report on the continuous calls of bomb threats to the airlines.
Lives of more than 2000 passengers were in danger
Due to all this, the lives of more than 2000 passengers were in danger. At the same time, airline companies and security agencies also had to face a lot of problems. In the last three days, about a dozen Indian flights operating on both domestic and international routes have received false bomb threats.
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu took a high level meeting regarding the threat of bombs in planes. Officers from CISF, BCAS, DGCA, Home Ministry and Civil Aviation Ministry were also included in it. Ram Mohan Naidu said that this is a very serious matter and all the security agencies are trying their best to catch the elements behind it. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said he is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that all necessary steps are taken against such actions.
