Indian Council of Medical Research ICMR says Avoid fruit juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee consumption

Sweetening your mouth after a meal has been a part of Indian tradition. Be it sweets or chocolates, milkshakes or fruit juices… sweet tea to drive away lethargy or the sweetness of sugar dissolved in bitter coffee. Or sugarcane juice in summers.

To sweeten the mouth, one or the other of these things reaches the threshold of the tongue throughout the day, but now ICMR has clearly told which things should be avoided to stay hydrated in summer. Understand that ICMR has asked to leave the entire ‘world’ of sweets to avoid dehydration in summer.

Why did ICMR forbid drinking fruit juice

The kind of heat that is currently prevailing in India, people are ready to do anything to keep their body cool. In such a situation, people like to drink sugarcane juice, fruit juice, cold coffee and many such sweet things from the fruit stalls on the roadside. There is bad news for those who drink such sweet drinks in summer.

Because of this, sugarcane juice should not be consumed in summers

According to the ‘Indian Council of Medical Research’ (ICMR), all these types of drinks are not good for health at all. For example, sugarcane juice is a widely consumed drink in summers. Because it contains a lot of sugar. Therefore, it should be consumed as little as possible.

To keep yourself cool, you should avoid drinking fruit juice. ICMR said that instead you should drink buttermilk, lemonade, whole fruit juice (without adding sugar) and coconut water. According to ICMR, if you want to keep yourself cool in this scorching heat, then take a balanced and nutritious diet. This will keep you cool from inside. According to a report published in Indian Express, ‘Diet Specialist’ Shubha Ramesh L says that sugarcane juice contains a lot of natural sugar. Due to which many health issues can occur. In summer, it can increase the risk of many diseases.

Eating too much sugar increases the risk of these diseases

Dehydration

Eating too much sugar in the diet can lead to dehydration in the body. The most surprising thing is that more water is needed to metabolize sugar. More water is lost from the body due to sweating.

Low blood sugar

Sugarcane juice contains a lot of sugar which takes a lot of time to digest and due to this the sugar level increases. Due to this the risk of insulin and type-2 diabetes increases a lot.

Sudden weight gain

Drinking too much sweet things leads to rapid weight gain. Due to this, the risk of diabetes and heart related diseases increases rapidly.
