Submarine Designer Igor Spassky Died: The uncrowned emperor of submarine designing and renowned Russian engineer Igor Spassky passed away on October 22, 2024 at the age of 98, leaving submarine designing engineers across the world in mourning. Igor was a scientist who played the most important role in building the superpower submarine fleet of the Soviet Union and then Russia.

Born in 1926, Igor devoted his entire life to submarine designing. You will be surprised to know that India’s first nuclear powered submarine Arihant was not designed by Igor and today four nuclear submarines of this category are standing ready. He also became the head of the Central Design Bureau of Marine.

Igor Spassky has built many submarines
