The ‘World Population Prospects 2024’ report released on Thursday also revealed that the world’s population will continue to grow in the next 50-60 years. Currently, there are about 8.2 billion people living in the world, the world’s population is estimated to be 10.3 billion by the 2080s. Currently, after reaching the peak, the world’s population will decline slightly and it will reach 10.2 billion by the end of the century.
India has been the most populous country in the entire century
According to the report, India overtook China last year to become the world’s most populous country. Now, throughout this century, i.e. till the year 2100, India will remain the world’s most populous country. The United Nations report has estimated that India’s population will decline by the end of the century, despite this it will remain the world’s most populous country. India’s population is expected to decline to 1.5 billion by the year 2100.
The population of 126 countries will increase
The report has revealed that there is an 80 percent chance of the world’s population reaching its peak in this century, whereas a decade ago the United Nations had predicted a 30 percent chance of this. The report says that the population of 126 countries and regions of the world will continue to grow till the year 2054. It will reach its peak by the end of the century. Countries with population growth include India, America, Pakistan, Indonesia and Nigeria.
