IndiGo Partnered With Turkish Airlines To Expand Reach In Europe Orders 500 Aircraft From Airbus And Boeing


IndiGo orders 500 aircraft to reach Europe: India’s Indigo airline has partnered with Turkish airline to expand its services to Europe and has ordered 500 aircraft from the two major companies to expand the plan. IndiGo’s International Sales Head Vinay Malhotra gave this information on Friday (February 17). According to news agency ANI, Malhotra said that this scheme will help in improving passenger services from India to Istanbul and Europe. According to airline officials, Indigo has placed orders for planes to European giant Airbus and America’s Boeing.

Malhotra said, “Indigo has placed an order to buy 500 more aircraft for the extended plan. At present, 1,800 aircraft of the company are flying in a day, out of which 10 percent are of international routes. Our current international flights are focused around the Indian subcontinent and a few other nearby countries. In the farthest we travel to Turkey and Istanbul. We are very much looking forward to flying further, hence partnering with Turkish Airlines. This is a Code Ship partnership, which allows us to enter Europe like never before.

‘Able to go from India to Istanbul and beyond Istanbul’

Vinay Malhotra said that as part of a codeshare agreement with the Turkish airline, IndiGo will be able to carry passengers from India to Istanbul and beyond. He said, “We have 27 precise online points in Europe which cover UK, France, Italy, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland and many more such points. Turkish Airlines have multiple frequencies at these points and due to codeshare we are able to carry passengers from India to Istanbul and beyond.

IndiGo to launch online points in Kenya-Indonesia

Malhotra added, “We also have 76 online points within India, from which we are able to take people from all over India, beyond Delhi and Mumbai to Istanbul and then beyond Europe.” Will launch new points, one in Nairobi, Kenya and the other in Jakarta, Indonesia.
