IPL Mini Auction 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking for their first IPL title since 2008. During this, the team reached the finals several times apart from the playoffs but stayed away from the trophy. Even Virat Kohli, who captained RCB for a long time, could not win the final for the team. Last season, the franchise made Faf Duplesey the captain but he too failed to turn the fortunes around. There has always been more than one star player in RCB but could not win the title. Now once again RCB’s eyes will be on the IPL trophy. The players’ auction for the Indian Premier League 2023 will be held in Kochi on December 23. In such a situation, the franchise would like to sharpen the bowling by including quality spinners in their team.
Looking for Hasaranga’s back-up
After the departure of Yuzvendra Chahal, there was a vacuum in the spin department of RCB. In the last season, Vanendu Hasaranga fulfilled that deficiency to a great extent. Hasaranga was the second highest wicket taker in IPL 2022. Looking at his ability, this time Royal Challengers Bangalore has retained Hasaranga. But the team lacks a bowler to back-up Hasaranga. Shahbaz Ahmed, Mahipal Lomror and Karn Sharma are present in the team as spin options. But their level is not like that of Hasranga. Karn was mostly seen on the bench last season. The franchisee bought him assuming that the team in which he lives wins the title. But last season, RCB stayed away from the title due to Karn Sharma.
Eyes on Adil Rashid/Adam Zampa
News Reels
For IPL 2023, if RCB wants to sharpen spin bowling in its team, then it can bid on Adil Rashid or Adam Zampa. Adil Rashid has a lot of experience of playing T20 cricket. Apart from this, RCB can also think about the old player of his team, Adam Zampa. Last year, Zampa remained unsold in the mega auction. If RCB buys either Rashid or Zampa in the auction, then his spin bowling will get more edge. There are two slots left for overseas players in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
