Iran-Israel Tensions: Amid increasing tension in the Middle East, European countries criticized Iran’s attack on Israel. Regarding this, Arun K Singh, who has been the Indian Ambassador to Israel and America, said that both Iran and Israel are partners of India and the increasing tension between these two countries can affect India also. This is because the India Middle East Economic Corridor (IMEC) was announced in the G20 conference last year to connect India with the Gulf and then Europe.
Economic corridor will be affected
According to former diplomat Arun Singh, now Iran has also joined the Israel-Hamas war along with its proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon, due to which India-Israel-UAE-USA (I2U2) may now face problems in formation. He said that India will have to move forward considering its position in the West Asian regions.
Arun Singh said, “The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor includes Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel and Europe. If tension increases between Iran and Israel, it may be affected.”
What is the purpose of IMEC corridor?
The IMEC corridor aims to integrate Asia, Europe and the Middle East, covering many countries. Former Indian Ambassador Arun Singh said, “There can be hope about the IMEC corridor only when the Israel-Hamas war stops and good relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel are restored.”
He said, “The I2U2 initiative was taken to deepen the relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel after the Abraham Accords of 2020. Now if the situation between Israel and Palestine worsens further, it has to be seen whether the UAE “How does one assess the response of Arab countries?”
According to the former diplomat, due to increasing tension between Tehran (capital of Iran) and Tel Aviv, there is a possibility of impact on India in the field of energy security and trade. The Indian leadership will definitely talk to Iran, Israel, Gulf countries, America and other countries regarding this.
