On Monday, Gholamhossein Ismaili said in an interview that the weather conditions during the President’s visit were perfect.
There were 3 helicopters in the President’s convoy. Ismaili himself was present in one of them. He flew near the border of Azerbaijan. He said the weather was fine when the helicopters took off at around 1 pm. He said the fog was up to the ground, but not at the altitude at which he was flying. During the journey, clouds covered some distance. The pilot of the presidential helicopter was in charge of the convoy. He ordered other helicopters to increase altitude to avoid the clouds. The President’s helicopter, which was flying between the two helicopters, suddenly disappeared in the air.
President’s helicopter disappeared in just 30 seconds
The President’s Chief of Staff said, our two helicopters were flying above the clouds. Our helicopter was at the back, but after about 30 seconds our pilot realized that the President’s helicopter had disappeared. Our pilot decided to return to find the President’s helicopter. According to Ismaili, an attempt was made to contact the President’s helicopter through radio equipment, but due to clouds the altitude could not be reduced.
His helicopter continued flying and landed on a mine nearby. After reaching there, a call was made to the President’s pilot’s cellphone and someone picked up the phone. Someone picked up the phone and said the helicopter had crashed. He could not tell anything about how the crash occurred. Like he said he was surrounded by trees. Ismaili further said that when we found the crash site, it was clear from the condition of the bodies that the President and others had died immediately after the crash, while the Imam was martyred several hours later. Actually, it was the Imam who had informed about the crash on the phone.
