On March 14, a team of Corruption Prevention Cell (Anti Corruption Bureau) Aligarh Unit arrested the irrigation supervisor of Sikandrarau from the Executive Engineer’s Office, Irrigation Division, located on Aligarh Road, while taking a bribe of Rs 6000. Firozabad Deputy Revenue Officer/Special Magistrate, Irrigation Department has also been made accused in this case.
Ashutosh Varshney, Deputy Revenue Officer of Irrigation Division Firozabad, was hearing the cases at the Executive Engineer Irrigation Division office located on Aligarh Road. It is alleged that under him, Irrigation Supervisor Sikandra Rao and Acting District Collector/State Government Advocate Dinesh Kumar Singh was demanding Rs 6000 thousand from a farmer of Hasayan to settle the case. On March 7, the same farmer had complained to the Anti Corruption Bureau, Aligarh, about an officer and an employee of the Irrigation Department demanding a bribe of Rs 6,000. The farmer’s case is going on in this court.
On the complaint of the farmer, on the morning of March 14, Anti Corruption Bureau Aligarh Unit in-charge Devendra Kumar Singh reached the Irrigation Division office with his team. The team arrested Dinesh Kumar Singh red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 6000. After this the team took the irrigation supervisor to Kotwali Sasni, where he was interrogated. The accused will be presented in the Anti Corruption Court in Meerut on March 15.
A farmer had complained about demanding bribe in the name of settling the dispute. On Thursday, an employee from the Executive Engineer Irrigation Division office was arrested while taking bribe.
