Keeping these aspects in mind, it is prohibited to charge anything other than mobiles and laptops in the train. In fact, last year i.e. in 2023, the Railways has also banned charging of mobiles and laptops in trains at night.

What could be the punishment?
There is 147 Railway Act, under which a crime is registered in case of entering restricted area or unauthorized entry. Under this section, if an offender uses any prohibited item in the train, then he can be punished with a fine of Rs 1,000 to imprisonment of 6 months or more or both.
