While talking to Local 18, Amit Kumar Saini of Pasak told that the banyan tree here is about 1000 years old. There is a belief about this banyan tree that those who have any kind of problem in their eyes can come here and take milk from the banyan tree. By doing this, whatever problem people have in their eyes goes away.
The tree is 1000 years old
Anil Kumar Singh, a resident of Umri Begumganj, says that in the 34th chapter of Durga Saraswati it is written that Ayu Rakshak Barahi. He told that it is the oldest banyan tree in Asia. The biggest thing is that this tree is spread over about 1 acre.
People come from far and wide to pray
Amit tells that apart from Uttar Pradesh, people from other states also come here who have problems with their eyes. They come here and take banyan milk and put it in the eyes in the morning and evening and when the eyes get cured then they come here and have darshan. Chunari is tied on this banyan tree to make a wish. People come here from far and wide to pray for themselves or their children.
There is a crowd near the tree
Usually you will see a crowd of devotees around the temple. But the people of Gonda are often seen around this tree. Many people claim that their eyes have been cured after praying here. For this reason people call it miraculous.
