There is a strange situation at the milk stalls in Jodhpur. Here, milk prices changing every three-four hours are surprising people. People get worried. It is said that it was fifty in the morning, now what happened in the afternoon that it reached fifty-five and by the evening it was sixty rupees per liter. People get confused whether it is milk or gold whose prices are increasing and decreasing every moment. On the occasion of wedding ceremony, milk rises to the sky.
Powdered milk broke my back
Amidst the rising prices of milk, milk sellers are definitely worried that they no longer earn much from milk. Because expenses have increased. Powdered milk has devastated the market. 40 liters of milk is being made from 2 kg milk powder which costs Rs 600 and is being sold for Rs 1600. Cow milk costs Rs 46-47 at home and is sold for Rs 50-55. In the desire of condensed milk, people are getting deceived and buying adulterated and powdered milk. Local businessmen have suffered 30 to 40 percent loss due to the arrival of Saras and Amul milk. Adulterated milk is also having a negative impact on people’s health.
5 crore business in a month
30 to 35 thousand liters of milk is consumed daily in Jodhpur city. There was a time when 40 to 50 thousand liters of milk was consumed from this market, but with time this consumption has reduced. Despite this, even today a business worth crores is done in the milk market. Milk worth Rs 12 to 15 lakh is sold in a day. Jodhpur residents drink milk worth Rs 5,00,00,000 in a month.
Difficulties for cattle herders increased
Rising inflation has increased the difficulties of cow herders. Earlier animal feed was available for Rs 10 to 11. Today the same animal feed is available for Rs 30 to 31. Just as a woman in a house is pregnant and laddus are made for her. Similarly, when a cow gives birth to a calf, she is also given laddus, ghee and Ayurvedic herbs.
