Actually, Matmaal is a Kashmiri word which means grandmother’s house. A Pandit Kashmiri couple has opened this restaurant with the same name in Gurgaon. The name of this couple is Surendra Sadhu and Nalini Sadhu. Let us tell you that this is India’s first Pandit Kashmiri restaurant.
This restaurant was started in 2016. Surendra told that he started this restaurant with about Rs 20 to 25 lakh. Now the annual turnover is Rs 4.5 crore. He also told that one restaurant each has been opened in Noida and Pune. Now he is also bringing theme based cafes, which will be opened all over India.
I am the head chef
Nalini told that she herself is the head chef of this restaurant. She prepares every dish and its recipe herself. She says that she has been cooking at home since the beginning. Now he turned his hobby into a profession. In this restaurant you will get to eat all types of Pandit Kashmiri food. Such as Dum Aloo, Haag Saag, Kashmiri Wazwan and many other Kashmiri dishes. Here you will also get to see and eat a lot of variety in Kashmiri bakery. One can comfortably eat food here for Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 per person.

Apart from eating Kashmiri food, you will also get to see and buy Kashmiri clothes here. Throughout this restaurant, you will get to see glimpses of Kashmiri culture and architecture everywhere. The special thing is that he has also installed a boat that runs on water in his restaurant, in which you can sit and eat food. It is also called Shikar in Kashmiri.

At present he has two restaurants in Delhi NCR. The first restaurant is in Gurgaon, DLF City Court, Sikandarpur. Whereas, the second restaurant is in Spectrum Metro Mall, Gardenia Gateway, Sector 75, Noida. Both these restaurants are open seven days a week from 12:00 noon to 11:00 pm. He also has another restaurant in Shankar Kalat Nagar, Wakad, Pune.
