Yemen’s Houthi rebels have unveiled their hypersonic missile. This is the same hypersonic missile with which Yemen attacked Israel’s capital Tel Aviv. The name of this new surface-to-surface missile is Palestine – 2, whose maximum speed is 19756 kilometers per hour. Its range is said to be 2150 kilometers.
This hypersonic missile named Palestine – 2 has recently been included in the Yemen army. This hypersonic missile runs on two stages of solid fuel. Its speed is Mach 16. That is, 19756 kilometers per hour. No air defense system in the world has anything that can stop a missile traveling at this speed.
This missile is manoeuvrable. That means it can change its direction mid-way. It deceives the interceptor missile coming from the air defence system and moves ahead at a high speed. Its speciality is that it can prove to be extremely dangerous for Israel, American bases in the Middle East, warships and merchant ships.
Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched a terrifying attack on Israel with a hypersonic missile on September 15, 2024. The missile with which this attack was carried out covered a distance of 2040 kilometers in just 11 and a half minutes. Obviously, the world will be surprised how the Houthi rebels got a missile with such tremendous technology. At present, it is being claimed that the Houthi rebels have made this missile.
After the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Houthi rebels will have to pay a heavy price for this. Earlier it was being claimed that the rebels could get such missiles from Iran, but Iran clearly denied that no such missile or technology has been given to Yemen from their side. Iran also has Fateh-1 missile with a range of 1400 kilometers, but it cannot cover such a distance.
Meanwhile, Israel said that it has not suffered any damage from any type of hypersonic ballistic missile. All these missiles were ballistic, but these missiles had achieved hypersonic speed for some time and out of all the missiles that came, only 20 missiles fell, but fell in open areas, due to which no one was harmed.
Let us tell you that hypersonic missile is a weapon that travels 5 times faster than the speed of sound, i.e. Mach-5. In simple language, its speed is 6100 kilometers per hour or more. After the missile is launched, this missile also has the ability to change its direction and it is almost impossible to track it and make it fall.
Now the question is whether all missiles can be hypersonic or not. Let us tell you that generally the speed of cruise missiles or ballistic missiles is high, but they can be tracked and shot down by their direction and route. If the speed of these missiles is increased to 6100 kilometers per hour and a direction changing device is added to it, then it will also turn into a hypersonic missile.
Hypersonic missiles or weapons are usually of two types, the first is the glide vehicle i.e. flying in the air and the second is the cruise missile. Currently, the focus of countries around the world is on the glide vehicle. A small missile is attached to the back of this hypersonic weapon and it is launched from the launcher.
When this missile covers a certain distance, a smaller missile is launched. After this, the glide vehicle attacks the target accurately even while flying in the air. Actually, an engine called scramjet is installed on them, which increases its speed by using the oxygen present in the sky or air.
