Israel to cut contact with unrwa: Israeli envoy Danny Dannon at the United Nations announced on Tuesday (January 28, 2025) that Israel will end all contacts with the United Nations Palestinian Relief Agency (UNRWA) and its associate bodies. Danon accused the organization of repeatedly weakening Israel’s security.
Prior to the meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Danon said, “Israel will end cooperation and contact with UNRWA or anyone working on it.”
America supported Israel’s move
The United States supported Israeli’s decision to end contact with UNRWA. US representative at the United Nations, Dorothy Sheiya said that this decision is appropriate. He accused UNRWA chief Philip Lazarini that he was “exaggerated” the impacts of the decision. Sheya said, “It is irresponsible and dangerous to exaggerate the impacts of laws by UNRWA.”

Philip Lazarini, head of UNRWA, strongly criticized Israel’s move. “The continuous attack on UNRWA is damaging the lives and future of Palestinians in the Palestinian areas occupied.” Lazarini also said in the United Nations Security Council meeting that such decisions can end confidence in the international community and endanger the possibilities of peace and security.
Discussion on arbitration in Qatar and America Gaza
Amidst all this, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani spoke on the phone with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday. He discussed to carry forward joint arbitration efforts in Gaza and move towards the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. According to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, the two leaders hoped that this ceasefire would show the path of a permanent solution.
Israeli army deployment on Mount Hermon
The Israeli Defense Minister has ordered that the Israeli army will be deployed indefinitely to ensure security in the Mount Hermon region along the Syrian border. According to the Israeli media report, this decision has been taken in view of the challenges of regional security.
