What is Japanese Encephalitis?
Japanese encephalitis is an infection caused by a virus. It is related to dengue, yellow fever and West Nile virus. The virus is transmitted to humans by the bite of infected Culex species mosquitoes and mostly Culex tritaeniorhynchus. According to the World Health Organisation, the spread of Japanese encephalitis virus is high in 24 countries in South-East Asia and the Western Pacific region.

This vaccine drive will last for 3 weeks. Is a single dose vaccine prepared from an Indian strain (Kolar- 821564XY) of Japanese encephalitis virus. According to statistics, about 68,000 cases of Japanese encephalitis are reported every year in the country.
