Javed Akhtar has expressed his views regarding religions in a podcast of a private YouTube channel. When he was asked that he has been living in a Muslim family since childhood, what are your thoughts regarding Islam. On this, Javed Akhtar said, ‘I was born in a Muslim family, I was brought up in the same way, my education started like every Muslim, but after becoming a teenager, I became an atheist Muslim. Because I was born in a Muslim family, I am following it, that is why I cannot become a Hindu.

What did Javed Akhtar say on being trolled?

When Javed Akhtar was asked that he is called ‘Jihadi’ on social media and is trolled in different ways, what is his reaction? On this, Javed Akhtar said, ‘I laugh when people troll me about my religion. Many people call me a Jihadi, many people even say that I should go to Pakistan. But I take those things as a joke.


Why is Javed Akhtar an atheist?

When Javed Akhtar was asked why he does not follow a religion properly. On this, Javed Akhtar said, ‘I was brought up in a Muslim family. My grandfather and father were all Namazis but I could not become one. I also like Eid and celebrating other festivals.

Javed further said, ‘I feel that religion is followed under the pressure of society, and anything that is followed under pressure is a burden, I do not want to live in that. My wife Shabana and I also celebrate Eid, we also celebrate Holi and Diwali or Christmas. Shabana supports my thinking, for this I am thankful.
