JEE Mains 2024 Result Announced, What Next: The results of JEE Mains January session 2024 have been released. Those candidates who appeared in the examination can check the result from the JEE Mains website. After checking the results, if a question arises in your mind that how NTA score is calculated, then we will answer it. Along with this, let us also discuss what the passing candidates have to do next.

How to calculate score

Percentile scores show the relative performance of the candidates who appeared in that examination. The numbers that appear are converted to a scale of 100 to 0. This happens for the candidates of every session. The total marks obtained by the student in that shift for other present students (whose score is equal to or less than the candidate) is multiplied by 100. After this, the total number of students present in the shift is divided and the score obtained is the NTA score of the students.

NTA Score in Seven Decimal Percentile

In the results of the first session of JEE Main, along with the total NTA score of the students, separate NTA scores of Physics, Chemistry and Maths have been released in 7 decimal percentile. JEE Main exam is conducted in different shifts. In such a situation, the difficulty level of the paper of each shift can also be different. Therefore, in all different shifts, the percentile is released as NTA score in 7 decimal places after normalizing it on the basis of raw score of the students in their respective shifts.

Raw score comes out first

First of all the raw score of every student is calculated. After that, the number of students with raw score equal to or less than that student’s is taken, it is multiplied by 100, divided by the total number of students appearing in that shift and the percentile is calculated in 7 decimal places. This is called the NTA score of that student.

what is the next step

Candidates who want to appear in the next session examination can apply. The next session will be held in April for which applications can be made till March 2. The marks of both the sessions are considered to calculate the score of the candidates who appeared in both the sessions. The one whose NTA score is higher is accepted. Along with this, the candidates who wish can apply for JEE Advanced. Rest of the students can wait for the information regarding counselling.
