JNU Agrees To Students Demand: Jawaharlal Nehru University has accepted the demands of the students who were on hunger strike. Many students have been on hunger strike here for the last 15 days. The students had made a total of 12 major demands, out of which the university has accepted 6 demands. One of the major issues among these is that JNU has agreed to publish the list of students’ census on the basis of caste. The list will be released soon. The university bowed down to these demands

One of the demands is that JNU should conduct its own entrance exam as it was done earlier. Caste census of the campus should be conducted, scholarship amount should be increased and weightage of viva-voce marks for admission should be reduced. Apart from this, PSR gate should be reopened, centres should be asked to conduct SFC elections.

Decision taken in the interest of students

According to media reports, the university officials say that these demands have been accepted only and only in the interest of the students. Its purpose is not to give political advantage to anyone. However, even after this the protest has not stopped. This hunger strike started on 11 August and today is its 17th day. The students demand that the demands on which the university has agreed should be given in writing. They will not end their strike on verbal assurances.

JNU entrance exam will be held again

If the demands of the students are accepted, the university will start the Jawaharlal Nehru Entrance Exam (JNUEE) again. Candidates will be given admission on this basis. The health of the students involved in this hunger strike is deteriorating day by day. President Dhananjay has lost more than 5 kg of weight and his ketone level is 4+. Councilor Nitish Kumar has lost more than 7 kg of weight.

In this regard, the university officials say that the legitimate demands of the students, which will be fulfilled by the authorities, will be accepted. As far as increasing the scholarship amount is concerned, the university is currently facing a shortage of funds. In this regard, the demand for funds will be placed by contacting the UGC. Regarding caste census, the university says that it is already available on our website that how many students of which category have been given admission. This is not a problem for us.
