Along with Keetham and Chambal of Agra, Jodhpur Jhal will now become a suitable destination for migratory and indigenous birds. Conservation work is going on here at a cost of Rs 7.63 crore.

Jodhpur Jhal is home to 190 species of local and migratory birds. There is a gathering of birds here in winter. According to Asian Waterbird Census-24, the number of 929 aquatic birds was recorded. Of these, 26 were migratory and 19 local species of birds. This is also the breeding ground of the state bird Stork. The Biodiversity Research and Development Society was concerned about its conservation. On this, Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad started the initiative. The executing agency Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority has started the work. Fencing is being done to protect the wetland with an amount of Rs 7.63 crore. The approach road has been leveled. The proposed link road of three kilometers will be connected with inter locking.

Reservoir and island construction started

Ornithologist Dr. KP Singh said that the habitats of birds found in wetlands have been identified. On the basis of their food items and behaviour, the places for making reservoirs and islands have been determined. 6 hectares of dense forest, 6 hectares of grassland and 13 islands and reservoirs are being prepared.
